Group Home Pages

The Group Home Page gives an at-a-glance overview of all activity going on within the group. Membership within groups can be fully open, controlled by the group manager, or managed via a registration key. Additionally, groups can be public or private; for private groups, the home page will only be visible to group members, and all content created within the group will only be visible to group members. The sections shown in this screenshot can be customized to meet the precise needs of your site.

  1. In the mission the group manager can provide a brief description of the purpose of the group. This mission can include images, audio, video, and links. In a course, for example, the mission could include links to a syllabus and class expectations.
  2. The Current assignments and Information blocks give people within the group a quick view of any upcoming work, and a single place to store important documents and messages about the course. Only teachers can add posts within the assignments and information sections.
  3. All users within the group can start discussions and add wiki pages. These spaces allow for open discussion and shared document editing.
  4. All users within group can add images, audio, and video. This allows each group to create a media library of content specific to the group.
  5. All users in the group can share links to resources via bookmarks. Bookmarks, like all other content types in groups, can be tagged using keywords.
