DrupalEd 5.6-0
Posted January 11th, 2008 by Bill
Earlier today, Drupal core was upgraded to version 5.6. This is a security release, and all users should upgrade.
For users with existing DrupalEd installs, you only need to upgrade core Drupal -- you do not need to use this specific package.
For new users to DrupalEd, this is the package for you.
Download it here to get started!

Submitted on September 4th, 2008 by AJAny updates on when DrupalEd will be upgraded to Drupal 6?
Thanks
Coming later this fall
Submitted on September 6th, 2008 by BillThe D6 version will come later this fall -- we are planning to revise the profile and streamline some of the functionality.
We are also waiting on stable releases of some of the modules we need -- at this writing, for example, the audio module is still at a dev release.

Submitted on September 18th, 2008 by HWeinertI am about to start a new website for my school using Drupal, however I'm a strong believer in using new technology and thus am very reluctant to use Drupal 5 for my site.
however being a novice, this DrupalEd release seems to be the best solution to get myself started, maybe i'll test it out for a bit while i wait for the DrupalEd v6 release.
An upgrade to 5.10 is in the works
Submitted on September 18th, 2008 by BillHello, HWeinert,
Frank Ralf, from within the Drupal community, has upgraded the DrupalEd codebase to 5.10 -- we're in the process of testing this out, and will be releasing it out shortly.
In all likelihood, this will be our last D5 release before we overhaul the functionality and do a D6 release.
Nearly a year ago when I
Submitted on September 24th, 2008 by dave PhillipsNearly a year ago when I tried out drupaled the site populated itself with sample students, groups etc.
When I installed 5.6 the other day (still working on getting it going in school, rather than just a single class) the install was empty of users ...
Is there any way to get all the exemplar content, or should I install again?
thanks

What is the advantage of
Submitted on January 19th, 2009 by James WalkerWhat is the advantage of DrupalEd over Drupal? I can install Drupal on the schools ISP server through C-Panel with a couple of clicks. I can also install DrupalEd, but it is more involved.
hi, is there a DrupalEd 6
Submitted on February 25th, 2009 by Ciprian Samoilahi,
is there a DrupalEd 6 version available for use?
Do you have an estimate of when this will be available?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Update existing Drupal site for education
Submitted on April 23rd, 2009 by GlennHi
I am trying to figure out the best way to add education functionality to an existing Drupal site.
I am looking at Moodle (problematic), or the Class modules in Drupal (unavailable).
Any thoughts from anyone on the best way to do this? Ideally I would like a Drupal based solution.
Thanks
Glenn
drupaled 5.6 to 5.17?
Submitted on May 9th, 2009 by DarrylHi there,
We are evaluating using Drupaled at our senior school.
Whilst waiting for ver6, I tried an upgrade from 5.6 core to 5.17 core which worked fine (I went via 5.11, but maybe that wasn't neccessary).
Of course many contrib modules are out of date, so I've tried to upgrade them, but four refuse to acknowledge there is a new version:
Calendar, Views Date Range Filter, IMCE and Login Destination.
Should we rather not do this? - I've seen a 2008 pdf showing successful upgrades and some modules still in development, but for drupaled 5.11.
Any advice is welcome,
Thanks and cheers,
drupaled 5.6 to 5.17?
Submitted on May 9th, 2009 by DarrylBlush, blush - my stupidity.
I inadvertently moved old modules out of the way, "just in case". However, these landed up in module "og" by some strange reason. When I cleared those, I no longer have any badly behaving modules or database :-)
OG vocabulary, Recent Changes, TinyMCE and Wikitools have "No file date available". These are probably not ever going to be updated unless someone else gets involved.
As far as I can tell, this is the same as the pdf file posted by Mr Fitzgerald? Except "my" core is 5.17.
Sorry for the unnecessary post above...
Cheers,
Updates available on d.o
Submitted on May 9th, 2009 by BillI'm not sure what pdf you are referring to -- I have not created any pdf about the profile.
But many of the modules you list have updates. The profile was assembled a LOOONG time ago, when the Update Status module was new code, so not all of the modules in the original install are set to work with it.
So, check the project pages. Wikitools has a 5.x update from March, 2009: http://drupal.org/project/wikitools
WRT TinyMCE: I strongly recommend uninstalling it and switching to the WYSIWYG API: http://drupal.org/project/wysiwyg
More than anything, though, the version of DrupalEd currently available reflects what Drupal was capable of a couple years ago. As part of our Knight-Drupal initiative work, we will be working on tools to simplify installs. This will get rolled back into a leaner, more efficient, more elegant DrupalEd.
Cheers,
Bill
Updates available on d.o
Submitted on May 9th, 2009 by DarrylHi Bill,
It was a link referred to by Frank (above), not yourself. Apologies for the misinformation. Here is his post:
Thanks for the links - going to check them now.
Are you able to comment on this?
Is there likely to be an DrupalEd upgrade path from 5x to 6x?
This is quite important to us if we are going to use ver. 5x now (I have read on the drupal forum that support for D5 will end when D7 is stable).
Cheers,
Upgrading from 5.x to 6.x
Submitted on May 9th, 2009 by BillDrupalEd is drupal modules, configured to work in an educational setting. So, the upgrade path for a DrupalEd site will be identical to upgrading any other Drupal site.
It sounds like a post that would be useful, though, would be something that made some suggestions for users of 5.x to get to 6.x.
Anything happening with DrupalEd?
Submitted on June 2nd, 2009 by PhilHi Bill,
I was wondering what was happening with DrupalEd and whether it was still being developed? The current 5.x version is ~17 months old and I would rather not think about building a site with it if the project is no longer moving forward.
Thanks!

Anything happening with DrupalEd?
Submitted on February 16th, 2010 by chrisI was wondering the same thing as the previous poster. With drupal 7 coming along nicely it this project still in the works?
Dead !!!
Submitted on February 18th, 2010 by smithI believe this project is dead! you might better look at drupal-moodle or phpEDu modules as an alternative.
Reports of demise have been greatly overstated
Submitted on February 19th, 2010 by BillD7 will see a new version.
